Today’s share your world challenge, eggs and The Oak Ridge Boys! Oh my gosh, I love my eggs! I would eat three a day if I could, if it was healthy! I could live on them. Scrambled being my favourite, then boiled. Fried with broken yokes are my third and final option for eggs.
I have never met anyone famous. I had the opportunity to meet the Oakridge Boys when they played in Vernon, B.C. My husband and I got tickets to the show from a radio station for our 25th wedding anniversary. We went along with another couple who were involved in promoting the radio station., So Country with Dennis Walker.
Sue is my friend’s name. She quite often shows up at events with the So Country Radio Banner, ready to promote Dennis’ Walker’s radio station anytime. I have a tag line for Sue…Sue is Everywhere! This woman volunteers for everything! There’s much more to learn about her, one day I might have to have her here as a guest blogger and make a you tube video.
Anyway, getting back to the story. I was supposed to go with Sue, to a back room to help hold the So Country Banner with The Oak Ridge Boys standing with us. We waited and waited. It seemed like we weren’t actually going to get to meet them after all and my hip was getting too sore to stand, I went to the upper floor and waited for the show to begin. Sue, being the loyal, devoted fan of So Country radio station stayed and waited, just on the slight chance she would meet them.
The show was about to begin and Sue comes running upstairs and say, “I met them, you should have stayed! You would have got to meet them!” Oh my gosh, to say I was disappointed is an understatement. I was happy for her. She got to hold the banner and someone took the photo with her camera.
Since I love editing so much, I downloaded her photo and edited myself in the photo!!! but I did write the message that I wasn’t actually there. I did a bad job in photo shopping myself in because I wanted to make it obvious that I really wasn’t there, but I wanted to be. This happened almost 2 1/2 years ago.
This story made me smile today, right now. It is a wonderful memory. Many things made me smile this week, signing a lease for a new place for my store, talking to my mom on the phone, seeing photos on Facebook of my family, etc.
I forgot to mention the first thing I ever bought for myself… I bought a beautiful suede jacket with fringes with my babysitting money, from the lady I was babysitting for. I wish I had kept it, although I was 12 years old and it wouldn’t fit me now. I was so proud!
Thank you for having this challenge so we can share our world. Thank you to the folks who are reading this post!
Remember to love yourself for being you!
